Essential Strategic Allies in Tobacco Control; Leveraging Strengths, Building Alignment and Encouraging Engagement is a collaborative training I developed and presented with a key ally of a partnering organization, National Behavioral Health. Delivered in Austin, Texas during the 2017 National Conference on Tobacco or Health, the training was developed for state-level program administrators regarding brokering appropriate partnerships and working relationships for very specific public health interventions. The co-presenter and I provided a breakdown of the four different types of relationships and how each can bring about different results. We also shared examples of how to develop actionable agenda items which keeps members of the relationship engaged, giving them very specific things to do that align with their strengths.
I am committed to a person who loves me for who I am. He and I have two dogs. Cascadia is home for us. I know for sure no one makes it alone; bootstrapping is a cliched dog whistle. I surround myself with truth tellers. I am healthy and grateful for what I have (on most days). I wholeheartedly believe reading gives us super powers. Vote. Exercise. Eat Healthily. Sleep Soundly.
